B&B Le Camelie
Nestled in nature in the hills of Valtravaglia, in the oldest part of the town of Brissago Valtravaglia 450 m above sea level, a few kilometers from the shores of Lake Maggiore stands the B&B Le Camelie. The ideal place to live a quiet and relaxing stay surrounded by a garden of camellias centenaries.
The owners, Ornella and Adolfo, have managed the structure for more than 15 years with great passion and professionalism.
The B&B Le Camelie is not far from the border with Switzerland and is a practical base to reach the main tourist resorts of the northeast branch of Lake Maggiore.
The story behind the B&B Le Camelie...
It was 2006 when Ornella and Adolfo decided to transform a part of the large manor house, in which they live, into an accommodation facility capable of welcoming tourists and visitors from all over the world. This is a former farm dating from 1700 with very large rooms, vaulted ceilings and a rustic cellar.
The house has always been too big for them: the idea of using a part of it as a B&B was born to make that farmhouse more alive and lively, a place where new people would pass every year eager to know and discover the wonders of Lake Maggiore. The farm has been renovated with respect and without altering the original nature of the building.
It results in a rustic yet inviting building, surrounded by a large garden with plants and flowers. The ancient spirit has also been maintained in the furniture of the rooms: all the period furniture of the house are cleverly restored by Adolfo.
Ornella has chosen the name of BeB: Le Camellias refers to the three centenary camellias found in the garden, one white, one pink and one mottled red that reach their peak in April.
B&B Le Camelie: about the rooms
Le Camelie B&B has 3 rooms inside the main house, all with independent entrances and private bathrooms with showers, complimentary toiletries and hairdryers. The rooms are large and bright, can accommodate from 1 to 4 people and are furnished in a rustic style with period furniture and objects in full respect of the original character of the building.
The 3 bedrooms bear the name of the colors: green, pink and orange.
- The GREEN ROOM is on the ground floor and was the last to be renovated and added to the complex. It has a double bed which can be split to be converted into a twin if needed. In addition to a private bathroom with shower, it is the only one that has a large private garden terrace framed by a climbing wisteria: on the terrace there is a swing and a small table made from the structure of an old sewing machine with iron chairs, an ideal corner for relaxing outdoors or for having breakfast
- The PINK ROOM is located on the first floor, has a large bathroom with tub and shower, sink, bidet, but the peculiarity is given by the presence of a wrought iron hand basin with basin and vintage jug. On the same floor there is also a large living room with sofa, armchairs, table and chairs, perfect to have breakfast
- The ORANGE ROOM is the largest and nearly resembles an apartment. It has a double bed and a wooden mezzanine which houses two single beds so that it is adapted to families with children. In addition to the private bathroom with shower and washing machine, it has a veranda overlooking the garden and an equipped kitchen
In every room there is always the possibility of adding a single bed.If there is a kitchen in the orange room, the other two have a refrigerator, a microwave and a kettle with everything needed to prepare tea and coffee as well as a television.
B&B Le Camelie amenities
Le Camelie B&B offers a bed and breakfast service. In spring and summer, breakfast is served outdoors in the garden. In the structure, there is also a communal room, with a vaulted ceiling, which was once the home kitchen. In addition to wood furniture and closets, antique utensils and furniture, there is an open fireplace and a niche with an old stone sink.
Ornella's proposals for breakfast are very varied: coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk with cereals, but also fresh fruit, local honey (especially chestnut and acacia), homemade cakes, biscuits and jams. On request Ornella is also available to make a delicious breakfast of eggs, cheese and deli meats.
The entire structure has a wifi network. There is no private parking in the B&B, but there are several parking spaces less than 100 meters away.
Pets are allowed as they are welcome.
B&B le Camelie also offers its customers 2 free mountain bikes with which to easily reach the main beaches of the coast. Being an ATV, it will not be so tiring and challenging to deal with the difference in height that separates Brissago Valtravaglia from the shores of the lake.
The B&B Le Camelie farmhouse is surrounded by a large open garden accessible to guests, full of tall trees, succulents, bushes and flowers. In addition to camellias, azaleas and tulip beds, you will also find a beautiful climbing wisteria and a huge magnolia that is about 300 years old: as Ornella tells us, it seems that this magnolia was planted just when the farmhouse was built in 1700. In the garden there is also a pond with water lilies, water irises and some small fish. In this triumph of nature, different relaxation areas are organized with chairs, tables, a gazebo and sun loungers, so guests are free to relax at any time of the day.
In the ancient part of Brissago Valtravaglia there are no commercial establishments and shops, but there is a restaurant, the Osteria d’Alberto, also highly recommended by Ornella for its typical Lombard dishes.
