The story behind the B&B Villa Clementina...
The value the villa brings to its guests is not only historical but also moving. The Villa was built in 1892 for the marriage of the Molteni family and it is located in an enviable position with the wonderful panorama of Lake Maggiore and the view of Monte Rosa.
Different property changes have seen the villa go from hand to hand until it is purchased by the Cagnola family, the current owner of the property.
It is said that Ferdinando Cagnola emigrated to Buenos Aires in search of wealth. There he yearned to learn the art of baking and earn enough money to enable him to come back and marry Clementina. His girlfriend (Clementina) had been waiting for him in Italy. The name of the villa is therefore a precious tribute to Ferdinand's spouse and their life and love story.
Ferdinando and Clementina went back to Argentina after their marriage and opened a pastry shop whose business cards are still kept.Back in Italy, with better economic conditions, they purchased a villa in Busto Arsizio, taking over the train station hotel.
Years later the sons managed to buy the current Villa Clementina thanks to a good deal and since that day the house belongs to the Cagnola family.
Renovated and opened in July 2004, the B & B Villa Clementina is currently managed by Cinzia, wife of Stefano, nephew of Ferdinando.
About the B&B Villa Clementina
Love for beauty, art, sharing and emotional connection to the spaces that belonged to the family are the elements that turned the dream into reality.
After the renovation, the first of two bedrooms, each with a private bath, the work continued over the years until the structure as it is today. The intention will then be to continue with other interventions with the aim of enhancing the exterior and other parts of the building more and more.
The entrance, framed by a magnificent wisteria, leads to the main entrance with a splendid hallway with a ceiling adorned with frescoes representing subjects related to music and swans. From here you can directly access the breakfast room and the three bedrooms: the pink room (suite), the green room and the blue room, all with private bathroom and furnished in a unique and personal way.
The breakfast room has musical-inspired frescoes. Here, there is also the old wooden work cupboard (with raised lead mirrors and storefront) used by Ferdinando and Clementina in their bar-pastry in Busto Arsizio.
From the breakfast room, a lovely balcony overhangs the palm grove with panoramic views.
The garden is an oasis of peace, from which to admire beautiful sunsets while the gaze is lost over the lake, to the top of Monte Rosa in the background.
Bed & Breakfast Villa Clementina: the experience
Cinzia's professionalism, honed over the years, together with attention to the needs of guests, are the elements that distinguish any stay from the unique and authentic experience that you can live through at the B & B Villa Clementina.
Suggestions and proposals are always studied taking into account the interests and personality of the guests and this is the strength that makes the difference in creating dedicated experiences for each stay.
It is from there that the wonderful exchanges with those who have transformed themselves from simple customers, to affectionate, up to create with some of them, relationships of wonderful friendship.
Like the Danish family whose son "chose Villa Clementina as the location for his wedding announcement to his bride-to-be," Cinzia recalls.
There are other curious stories that come from afar and trace subtle links between peoples and cultures; one of them is the story of the Yemeni girl about Mokha, a port in her country, renowned for being the largest coffee market from the 15th to the 17th century, with a clear assonance to our Italian moka.
Or the bond with an American couple who have been guests of the B&B since the beginning of the activity, in 2005, establishing a beautiful relationship with Cinzia and her family for which they often keep in touch.
